While My Guitars

FINALLY HERE WE ARE !!! . What can I say…not long ago, driven by the passion, knowledge and love for old Vintage Guitars and stimulated by the real “works of art” that my Friends, Amedeo, Germano, Paolo and a few others, reproduce every day, a thought begins to creep into my head: Try to reproduce the legendary "Number 1" by Mr. Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones. Yes, just the very famous MICAWBER. . I begin to study and find everything necessary starting from scratch to make it as similar as possible, given that the redone copies (even by Fender itself) are quite approximate and not exactly faithful to the original both in terms of appearance and electronics. As I start looking for the right timber, I realize I have to buy whole planks of about 3.5mt and at that point I realized: Ok I have wood to make 7…8…let's start making some of which I don't have the original ones like: 1) The Micawber 2) The first Stratocaster made in 1954 3) A Stratocaster "muletto" very similar to the one I usually use for live shows, made by Amedeo 4) A personalized and more modern Telecaster. Yes…4, in the worst case scenario I would have had lots of good wood to use with the barbecue on Sunday.

Still incredulous I start talking about it with some friends and armed with a lot of patience I lock myself in the 24/7 laboratory where day-by-day these rough woods begin to come alive, take shape and come to life. The instruments will have to play perfectly as they should, with their characteristics of the past and as I have them in my head, so in finding the materials I decide to have Alberto make the electrical part by hand, I follow Savio's advice for the painting, given that these instruments were painted with techniques and paints with which the glorious cars of the 50’s and 60’s were made. I also decided to give a name to these woods by creating a logo and printing Decals from Angelo. Fascinated by Marianna's splendid paintings, I decide to send her a body to paint, so soon I hope to show you 2 more, in the meantime, after having finished, perfectly set up and photographed the legendary 4, I am here to take the great pleasure and joy of showing you how they are been born and weaned, and from tomorrow every day I will insert 4 detailed photos of each of them in this album.

I really thank all the people I have mentioned and tagged with whom I have dealt with for having fueled in me the enthusiasm and desire to give life to these pieces of wood and iron … To Be Continued …
